Aronia – The Berry That Started it All…

Posted on

Back in 1996, one little purple berry started it all for Artemis – The Aronia berry (also known as Chokeberry).

During a trip to Poland, Artemis brought back a variety of aronia plants and started a propagation program in several Universities across the country. Since then Artemis has worked with researchers all over the world to better understand the benefits that aronia offers and to relay this research back to the market to help develop products that include this tremendously good-for-you berry.

Artemis is currently working closely with growers from the Midwest Aronia Association to bring aronia berries back to its native roots – the US. Most people know this berry as a Polish crop yet it is native to North America. Our goal is to make aronia a successful crop for growers here in the states as well as a successful ingredient in foods, beverages, and the nutraceutical market. Currently we sell extracts and concentrates that we produce in Poland because there simply was no crop here. Well that is about to change. This year we plan to offer fresh-frozen berries of US origin to food and beverage manufacturers and will be displaying our US berries at ExpoEastin Baltimore in September 20-22, 2012. We will have a great selection product prototypes for visitors to taste some great ways to formulate with aronia.

We want everyone to know that if you are looking for aronia berries – look to Artemis International. We can provide berries, concentrates and extracts and help you design the perfect product – be it food, beverage, or supplement.
